Sandy's Realm - Swimming Pool Project Photos ...swimming pool construction, back yard landscaping, swimming pool, pool, building a pool, pool construction photographs

Updates:

1/4/01

The coping and tile have been installed & concrete lay-out and drainage for the area surrounding the pool has been done. So far, the project has been fairly stress-free. Since it's winter, the job seems to be moving right along, even with the Christmas and New Year's holidays thrown into the mix.

We didn't have landscaping included as part of the pool project. We learned that if we wanted to install sprinkler and electrical lines for planters & lighting, we needed to get them in BEFORE the concrete was poured! We were fortunate that there were several landscapers willing to take on this "rush" job. We also wanted a patio cover. The patio cover will be less than 5 feet from the water, so we have to decide whether to go with a wood or aluminum cover. We are leaning toward the aluminum cover for several reasons. No footing are required and it's relatively maintenance free. When we first heard of aluminum patio covers, we thought they'd be unstable and ugly. Our landscaper showed us three patios covers below our home. One was aluminum and we were not able to tell the difference from the wood ones!

1/19/01:

A new roll of film has been sent for developing so more photos will be posted shortly! I guess we spoke too soon about the job moving right along. RAIN--and lots of it! This cut production for over a week! Fortunately, as of 1/18/01, the concrete has now been poured and the plaster and landscaping will hopefully begin next week. We did decide to go with the aluminum patio cover. It looks GREAT!
